Well known for being a founder of Taller Grafica Popular and being the artist on the expedition to Bonampak in 1949 which included the discovery of the Mayan fresco's. There are two art museums named after him, Guadalajara, Coyoacan, Mexico.. He has painted several murals in Mexico's Ministry of Education and many other locations, as well as in California, Bowers Museum and Mexican Consulate. The most recent was a 70 foot by 13 feet mural about the history of 20th century Mexican art at East Los Angeles College. He has had solo exhibitions all over the world with works in the collections of the Vatican, Smithsonian, Vincent Price Museum, Museum of Modern Art in Mexico and the Bowers in Santa Ana.
